NEW CHAPTER OF THE WELL ARMED WOMAN FORMED IN FREDERICK

-- The Western Maryland Chapter of The Well Armed Woman to hold its monthly meetings at Heritage Training and Shooting Center –
Heritage Training and Shooting Center, a Frederick-based firearms training and shooting range focused on education and safety, announced today that it is the host range for the Western Maryland Chapter of The Well Armed Woman (TWAW), a female-only shooting organization designed to educate, equip and empower women in regards to firearms. The Center will be the venue for the chapter’s monthly meetings, held every third Tuesday of the month, and invites women of all skill levels to visit its first meeting on October 18, 2016.
With the number of women now owning firearms increasing, women are eager to learn and practice with other women. For females new to shooting, the very male driven industry can be intimidating. To create woman friendly opportunities to practice and learn, TWAW Shooting Chapters, Inc. is introducing Shooting Chapters all over the country with a new chapter here in Frederick.
TWAW Western Maryland Shooting Chapter will give women of all experience levels the opportunity to be introduced to issues important to women shooters, learn safe gun handling skills and train together. The first shoot is scheduled for Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Heritage Training and Shooting Center from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.
“We are excited to welcome The Well Armed Woman Western Maryland Chapter to our facility for its monthly shoots,” commented Jim LaFleur, President of Heritage Training and Shooting Center. “We are proud to support the empowerment of female firearm enthusiasts who are interested in honing their personal protection skills. Our Center is a great fit for this group as we’ve created a comfortable environment that is appealing to women, of all ages and skill levels.”
TWAW Western Maryland Chapter is being spearheaded by Brenna Pattajo a local female gun enthusiast. Events will be held monthly and are open to all women, 21 years or older. Time will be devoted to discussion and topical study as well as time on the range learning and practicing safe gun handling skills at each monthly event. All participants can rent a Glock 17 free of charge and are only required to pay for costs of ammunition, or if they’d like to upgrade their rental firearm.
Annual Chapter membership dues of $50 offers members local and national discounts, chapter hat and member kit and is used to cover chapter expenses, insurance and events.
