Discover Heritage: Handgun Qualification License Course
2/10/2015
In order to purchase a handgun in Maryland after October 1, 2013, state law requires that most purchasers, with a few exceptions, obtain a Handgun Qualification License. The four-hour HQL course, which will be available at Heritage Training and Shooting Center, teaches handgun basics, state handgun firearm laws, home handgun firearm safety, and basic operation and handling. At the completion of the course, a basic competency test, including a live-fire exercise, must be completed to demonstrate the person’s proficiency to operate and safely handle a handgun. A certificate will be presented to all students who complete the course.
