Heritage Firearm Training Academy
Heritage Training and Shooting Center has created the most comprehensive defensive firearm training academy, teaching people of all experience levels the skills necessary for responsible, safe and effective use of firearms. Here, students with a desire to hone their personal protection and firearm skills can experience a defensive training program similar to qualification courses for law enforcement professionals.
The Academy is separated into four Defense Units that cater to students of all skill levels, offering the opportunity for students to advance through each phase at their own pace. The progressive curriculum starts with basic firearm fundamentals & crime prevention and advances to live fire exercises & advanced firearm techniques.
DEFENSE UNIT OVERVIEW
Our curriculum offers multiple levels of instruction, or Defense Units, where students can advance through courses at their own pace and reach their ultimate personal protection goal. We also offer supplemental education at each level through Advanced Individual Training. Students can better hone their firearm skills and techniques via one-on-one instruction in a Marksmanship Sim Lab session or reserved range time with one of our professional and qualified trainers.
Defense Unit 1
Defense Unit 1: Core Fundamentals offers nine courses focused on essential firearm safety and handling procedures. From “Defense is Personal,” our trademark personal defense course, to Basic Handgun, Shotgun and Rifle courses, to Firearm Cleaning, these courses are focused on building a core understanding of responsible, safe and effective use of firearms. This unit also includes two of our most popular courses, Maryland HQL and Utah CFP, as well as their Law add-ons.
Defense Unit 2
Defense Unit 2: Defensive Techniques courses build on firearm fundamentals and offer intermediate firearm training from our expert trainers. For the slightly more advanced individual, Defensive Unit 2 courses include Low Light Techniques, Firearm Malfunction, Holster Draw Exercise, and Barricade/Low Light Handgun Exercise.
Defense Unit 3
Defense Unit 3: Advanced Defense Techniques offers courses that enhance existing firearm knowledge and focus on defensive tactics for personal protection in various scenarios. Courses include Defensive Handgun, Rifle and Shotgun as well as Decision Making for Personal Protection and Defensive Concealed Carry. You must be 21 years old and have an approved background check to complete any of our Defense Unit 3 courses.
Defense Unit 4
The highest level, Defense Unit 4: Advanced Courses of Fire, is a customized version of the MD State Police Qualification Course that focuses on challenging courses of fire. This type of class is not available anywhere else in the nation and provides civilians with a unique opportunity to learn highly advanced tactical defense skills. You must be 21 years old and have an approved background check to complete any of our Defense Unit 4 courses.
