Q: Is your range open to the public?

A: Yes, while we do offer memberships, you do not have to be a member to enjoy all the benefits of Heritage.

 

Q: How do I get a Heritage Range Card?

A: To obtain a Heritage Range Card, you must read and sign a liability waiver, read and sign the range safety rules, attend a 10-minute safety briefing, and pay a one-time fee of $10. Heritage Training and Shooting Center employees will help you with this process during your first visit. The Heritage Range Card is valid for one year, at which time you must attend a refresher safety brief. Afterwards, your Heritage Range Card is revalidated for one more year, with no additional card fees.

TRAINING

 

Q:  Do you offer the Maryland Handgun Qualification (HQL) course?

A: Yes, we offer the HQL course several times a week at a variety of times to fit your schedule. You can learn more on our HQL course page.

 

Q: What type of training do you offer?

A: We offer a wide range of training courses from beginner to advanced shooters. Visit our Firearm Training Academy page to learn more about what training Heritage can offer you.

 

Q: Do you offer women’s only classes? 

A: Yes! We want women to feel safe and comfortable when coming to Heritage to learn or practice their self-defense skills. Therefore, we offer a women’s only course once a month. We also host The Well Armed Woman Western MD Chapter the 3rd Tuesday of every month.

 

Q: Do you offer self-defense courses?

A: We advocate that Defense Is Personal. While we do not offer physical self-defense courses, our courses are designed to get you into the mindset of assessing and planning for possible threats. Check out our Defense Is Personal Course.

RANGE

 

Q: Do you take reservations?

A: Yes! To help you get the most out of your visit to Heritage Training and Shooting Center, we offer online range reservations for our customers. This process will save you valuable time and will ensure an efficient visit to our facility. Additionally, the computer kiosks in our lobby can be used for range reservations and our friendly and helpful staff is always available for assistance. Reserve your lane now!

 

Q: Who can use the Heritage Training and Shooting Center range?

A: In order to use the range, you must be at least 15 years old, have a United States government-issued photo identification card, and have a Heritage Range Card. If you are a minor, you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian over the age of 21 who must sign a waiver. 

 

Q: Where can I find range rules?

A: You can read you can read all our range rules and procedures here. Feel free to review before your visit, but a Range Safety Officer will also go over the rules before you shoot on your first visit.

 

Q: Can I bring my own guns and ammunition?

A: Absolutely! If you own a firearm, we encourage you to bring it in to shoot, with your own ammunition or ammunition you purchase from us. If you don’t have your own firearm or looking for something new we have plenty of rentals. We only require you purchase ammunition from us when you are renting any of our firearms.

 

Q: Is there any ammo I cannot shoot at Heritage?

A: Tracer, armor piercing, steel jacket/core, belted magnum, and steel shot ammunition are not permitted in the ranges.

 

Q: Are there any firearms I can’t shoot in the range?

A: No muzzle loading firearms, black powder firearms or calibers exceeding .44 magnum, .3o8, and 10 gauge are permitted on the range. No BB/Pellet and airsoft guns are not permitted for use on the range. See Range Operations Manager for any exceptions.

 

Q: What are the range rates?

A: 1-hour lane rental is $25 per hour for 1 person, $35 per hour for 2 people. Maximum of 2 people per lane. Eye protection, ear protection, and targets are always complimentary! On your first visit, there is a $10 one-time registration fee.

 

Q: Do you have firearms to rent?

A: Yes! We have over 170 firearms to rent including semi-auto handguns, revolvers, AR-15s, carbines, and shotguns. All firearms rent for $15 per hour. Learn more about our rentals here.

 

Q:  What is the cost to rent a firearm?

A: All of our over 170 rental firearms are $15.00 per hour plus the cost of ammunition. Visit the Range Rental Inventory page for additional details.

                                                                                                                                          

Q: What is the age requirement to shoot at Heritage?

A: You must be at least 15 years old to be allowed on the range. If you are a minor, you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian over the age of 21 who must sign a waiver. 

 

Q: Is there a Range Safety Officer on the range at all times?

A: At Heritage Training and Shooting Center, we take safety very seriously. This includes having a Range Safety Office (RSO) on the range at all times.

 

Q:  Can I draw from a holster in the range?

A: Customers who desire to shoot handguns from the holster must be “Holster Draw Certified” through Heritage’s Holster Draw Exercise. Strong-side, outside-the- waistband holsters only are permitted.

 

Q:  How many shooting lanes do you have and how long are they?

A: We have 12 lanes on each of our 2 ranges at Heritage. All lanes are 25 yards long.

 

Q:  Do you allow shooters to collect their brass?

A: Yes, shooters may retrieve their expended casings behind the firing line only after they have unloaded and cased their firearm. Please let the RSO know at the beginning of your session that you would like to collect your brass so that the RSO will not sweep it away.

 

Q:  What kind of ventilation is in the range?

A: The range has a state-of-the-art climate controlled ventilation system. The air is recycled every 60 seconds in the range. The air inside the range is cleaner than the air outside the building!

 

Q:  Do you have indoor leagues?

A: Yes. We currently offer Action Shooting International (ASI) matches, a ‘move and shoot’ league. We plan to offer additional leagues and special shooting events in the near future. Please visit our ASI page for more information.
